September 1, 2024 -- Front Porch Beads recently established a scholarship fund for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County. An initial donation of $1,500 was presented at a volunteer beading workshop held at Story & Song Bookstore. These funds will help to send a Yulee graduate to a program at FSCJ this coming fall.

Established in 2018, Front Porch Beads is a local volunteer-driven organization that raises funds for various charities in Nassau County by creating and selling beautiful hand-made jewelry. “Our aim is to support local charities offering assistance to anyone facing significant challenges," says Frances Peters, founder of Front Porch Beads. "And we also love helping out organizations that focus on programs for children throughout the county.”
Over the past five years, Front Porch Beads has raised and distributed over $70,000 from the sale of bracelets, necklaces, earrings and other jewelry, all made locally by volunteers.
The Boys & Girls Club operates three facilities in Nassau County. "This gift will help us provide a great future for one of our graduates," says Tanya Orr, Development Officer. "For almost 25 years, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that all Club members are on track to graduate high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and leadership skills and living a healthy lifestyle."
Front Porch Beads has regular workshops that are free and open to all. For more information, visit www.frontporchbeads.com.
