Funds for the donation came from the sale of beautiful hand-made jewelry crafted by volunteers in Yulee and Amelia Island. "We support local charities that offer assistance to anyone facing significant challenges,” says Frances Peters, Founder of Front Porch Beads, “and we love fund-raising for Gracie’s Kitchen because every dollar goes directly to help out people in need.”
Gracie's Kitchen provides a food distribution service in Yulee to individuals, families, and shut-ins who are facing difficult financial circumstances and otherwise might not have enough to eat. "In July 2024, we served 3,332 meals, delivered 25 family boxes to shut-ins, fed 180 dogs and cats (several times), and helped out many families and the homeless with food from our Blessing Box," said Maryellen Crocker, Executive Director of Gracie's Kitchen. She adds: “We have also established an office for DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), which is a very effective program to teach students how to make good decisions when it comes to drugs and healthy living."
Front Porch Beads has regular workshops that are free and open to all. For more information, visit www.frontporchbeads.com.
